The National Enhanced Oil Recovery Initiative (NEORI) released the following statement today in response to comments on carbon capture by Governor Rick Perry during his confirmation hearing to serve as Secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy.
“We are encouraged by Governor Perry’s acknowledgement of the important role carbon capture can play in growing America’s energy economy and creating skilled jobs. His stated support for new projects such as Petra Nova and the Lake Charles Methanol facility is also helpful. Carbon capture technologies represent a win-win for the American economy and environment. A growing number of companies are investing in these innovative technologies and continued federal support is vital to their success. If Governor Perry is confirmed, we will work with him and the staff of the U.S. Department of Energy to continue to find ways to promote and advance these technologies for the benefit of all Americans.”
