Carbon Capture Coalition Lauds Introduction of Clean Industrial Technology Act

Carbon Capture Coalition Co-Director Brad Crabtree has issued the following statement regarding the introduction of the Clean Industrial Technology Act:

“The Carbon Capture Coalition welcomes the bipartisan leadership of Senators Whitehouse (D-RI), Capito (R-WV), Manchin (D-WV), Braun (R-IN) and Booker (D-NJ) and Representatives Casten (D-IL), McKinley (R-WV), Johnson (D-TX) and Radewagen (R-AS) in introducing the Clean Industrial Technology Act, which includes important provisions to expand research, development, demonstration and deployment of carbon capture and utilization technologies across a range of vital industries. The Coalition applauds the growing recognition on both sides of the aisle in Congress of the important role carbon capture must play in managing industrial emissions, while sustaining our nation’s economic prosperity and high-wage jobs base. Analysis by the International Energy Agency and Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change is clear: we cannot meet midcentury goals for reducing carbon emissions without addressing emissions from key industries such as cement, steel, chemicals, and refining, and economywide deployment of carbon capture is essential to decarbonizing these and other industrial sectors.”
