This statement may be attributed to Jessie Stolark, executive director of the Carbon Capture Coalition:

“The Carbon Capture Coalition commends the Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management (FECM) at DOE for advancing the Responsible Carbon Management Initiative (RCMI). This robust list of principles for the responsible deployment of carbon management projects, along with the companion RCMI Resources, provides a starting point for project developers and others looking for best practices for community engagement, workforce development, environmental protection, and other topics related to the responsible, successful carbon management deployment across sectors.

“In advancing these ten principles, DOE has recognized that there are many components to successful, responsible project deployment. In our 2023 Federal Policy Blueprint, Coalition members urged the DOE to develop best practices and guidance for project developers regarding community engagement and workforce development. We are pleased to see the Initiative enter the pilot phase and take this important next step. The Coalition provided consensus-based feedback on the RCMI last fall, and we look forward to continuing to work with FECM on advancing the responsible deployment of economywide carbon management technologies.”
