Carbon Capture Coalition Encourages Inclusion of Provisions to Commercialize Carbon Capture Technologies

August 31, 2020 | News

The Carbon Capture Coalition supports the inclusion of Section 503 of the CLEAN Future discussion draft in any upcoming legislative vehicles and bicameral negotiations scheduled for the remainder of this Congress.

The adoption of the provisions in Section 503 to expand DOE RDD&D support for carbon capture technologies, particularly in the industrial sector, would represent one of the most significant legislative achievements since the passage of the Future Act in 2018 to reform and expand the Section 45Q tax credits for carbon capture, utilization and storage. The energy and industrial sectors are reeling under the weight of the current pandemic. Section 503 provides an opportunity to support the those sectors by expanding opportunities for the development of a large-scale demonstration program and the deployment of carbon capture projects across a variety of applications.
