Carbon Capture Coalition Wins the Inaugural Cleanie Award for Best Public Affairs Campaign of the Year

The Carbon Capture Coalition along with communications partner RENEWPR was today announced as the inaugural winner of the Best Public Affairs Campaign of the Year in the Cleanie Awards. The Coalition won for its successful efforts to support Congressional reform of the federal Section 45Q tax credit to boost carbon capture technology development and deployment. The Cleanie Awards are the first comprehensive awards program exclusive to the cleantech industry. The program generates visibility for innovators and disruptors in the industry who are delivering on the promise of a clean energy future. The campaigns recognized by the annual awards program aim to influence public opinion about clean energy technology solutions.

Coalition co-directors Brad Crabtree of the Great Plains Institute and Jeff Bobeck of the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions issued the following statement on the award:

In just the past year, the industry, labor and NGO participants of the Coalition worked collaboratively to help secure passage of landmark federal legislation to boost carbon capture technology, rebranded and expanded their mission and membership and supported the introduction of additional bipartisan legislation to further advance commercial deployment of carbon capture.

“The successful, bipartisan, effort of the Coalition was supported by a strong, coordinated public information campaign, which is recognized by this award. That ongoing public effort is necessary to advance sound policy that boosts domestic energy production, creates good-paying jobs and reduces carbon emissions.
